Royal patron for the Built Heritage Conservation Training Centre

We are very proud to announce that on 11th August 2006  Her Royal Highness Princess Margareta of Romania became the Royal Patron of the Built Heritage Conservation Training Centre at a special celebration held to mark the occasion at Banffy Castle, Bontida.

The celebration was attended by many official personalities of Cluj County, including the Mayor of Bontida, friends of the project, members of the design and implementation team responsible for the development of the Centre, and members of the press.

The festivity began with a short presentation of the Built Heritage Conservation Training Programme, followed by a tour of the practical training workshops, where Her Royal Highness was able to talk directly to students attending the courses and to view the progress  of the restoration work. Her Highness then unveiled the first phase of the restoration of the ornate stone Baroque entrance gate to the former stables, and together with Prince Radu, planted two oak trees in the courtyard of the Castle. At a press conference, held in the castle’s Art Café the Princess outlined her support for the work of the Centre. An informal buffet lunch, held in the Centre’s new Conference facilities, enabled the guests to meet and talk freely with Her Royal Highness.

We now look forward with enthusiasm to her continued participation in the development of the BHCT Centre
